Robert Shannon
Eight years old boy who in 1900 after mother’s death sent from his home in Dublin, Ireland to his mother’s family, the Leckies, in the small town of Loganford, Scotland. His father is death too. He is a little boy with red hair how his mother. Robert always tells the truth. Like most lonely children he is very shy. He likes nature. His favorite flowers are carnations. He is Catholic and he needs to go to church. There are some problems with new family, because they are Protestants. Robert can’t eat meat on Fridays.
When Robert is fifteen he is very tall and stooping boy, shy and melancholy. He is full of the sense of his importance. He is very talented. He is one of the best students in his school. His favorite subject is biology. His dream is to study at university and after then- work in laboratory. Robert doesn’t love money with all his heart.
He is in love with Alison.

Hannah Leckie
Her name in family is Mama. She comes to station when Robert comes to Scotland. She is his mothers’ mother. She is the soul of home. Nice woman who is carried of little Robert.
Grandpa
He actually is Roberts’ great-grandfather. He is a tall man, about seventy years old. He has a pipe. During night he snores loudly.
Grandma
She actually is Roberts’ great-grandmother. She is a big woman, bigger than Grandpa, with a long yellow, wrinkled face. When she talks, she shows strong yellow teeth, which made little clicking noises. She likes to drink tea and speak about her. She had bad relationships with Grandpa. They don’t speak to each other.
Gavin Blair
He is Roberts’ best friend and classmate. Boy who little helped Robert to found his dream work. He has collection of eggs.
Alison Keith
Alison is Roberts’ classmate. She is a singer. Her voice is so dear, so sweet that Robert held his breath when listen to her. Alison is weak in mathematics.
Angelo Atonally
He is in the same First Communion class as Robert. He is Roberts’ friend for a little time. Angelo is like little girl. He always cried when Robert must go home. He is very spoiled child.
