The invasion of D-day, life on the home front during World War Two, and second battle of Ypres helped enrich Canada with their contributions to food, fashion, religion, business, education, and politics.
- "OK, we'll go!" With these words, General Elsenhower of the Allied forces launched the long-awaited and -planned invasion of France. The beaches of Normandy were selected for their proximity to Allied reinforcements and Britain. The date of invasion was set to June 5, 1944. However, due to bad weather, the attack was delayed. On June 6, 1944, a raid of Allied bombers began to pound German defenses, followed by gunfire from the Allied warships. …
