Is it Better to Determine Your Own View than Follow the Crowd?

Opinions are meant to be challenged in order to ensure progress. Several examples from literature and history demonstrate this point, because the complex world we live in demands contradiction and innovation in order to break the routine improve the world. However, we cannot challenge opinions if we don’t have one of our own, and we can’t have one of our own, if we blindly follow the crowd.
