Debate: Pro-Gay Marriage Argument

Imagine being told by your state that you couldn't marry the person you loved. This is an issue that gay couples have to face in the U.S. Ask around and nearly everyone will say that they're in favor of equal rights for homosexuals. They'll all say yes, gays should have the same rights in housing, jobs, public accommodations, and should have equal access to government benefits, equal protection of the law, et cetera. Get to the issue of gay marriage however, and that's where the issue of equality stops.
