Robert Graves essay, “The Shout”, was not easy to read, but I get some new ideas and that made me think a bit. In my essay I will try to prove that the inmate’s of the Asylum mr. Crossley’s story was true, not his delusion or a dream. There are not many facts that verified to it, but there are no facts that verified that he is lying either. I am going to base this essay to the fact that it is impossible to define truth.
The first fact I found was that he said his story is true. It is not a strong argument, but person cannot say that somebody is telling lies or cock-and-bull stories until he or she has been convienced about it. Then, if we look further, Crossley says, ”when I say that my story is ”true”, I mean at least that I am telling it in a new way. It is always the same story, but sometimes vary the climax and even recast the characters.…
