The geopolitical agent’s perceptions and his capacities
The geopolitical agent was Gamal Abder Nasser. Nasser considered as controversial, autocratic ruler as prime minister (1954-56) and president (1956-70). He was indeed a nationalist but also a reformist, he wanted to modernize Egypt. In the beginning of the Republic of Egypt, when Mohamed Nagib was the official president of the country, the power was already in Nasser’s hands. In a short period of time Nasser became the main figure of the Arabic nationalism. He had an outstandingly charismatic figure, it seemed like he was not afraid of any superpowers, and was capable of doing anything in favor of his country. Because of those above, he was generally accepted and liked among the civil population. From the fact that he was able to sign agreements with the British, that it would withdraw its forces from the Suez Canal, we can assume that he had power in his hands not just nationally but internationally as well. Nasser’s vision for Egypt was an indepent country, he wanted to brake the compromising politicization and bravely opposed the USA, and Britain.…
