One consequence of viewing the world in the sense of no free will increases our compassion and reduces hatred for such people which is essentially a good thing. Our urge for retribution is caused by our inability to see the causes of human evil.
We cannot take full credit for our talents but it matters that we use them. We cannot take responsibility for our weaknesses yet it still matters that we try to fix them. Pride and shame are meaningless.
Religion justifies the morality of god using an assumption of free will. It is the underlying notion when it comes to sin- the idea of good and evil. God holds us responsible for the slightest doubt of his morality and truth while we are not responsible for our thoughts. Beliefs are a product of prior causes, yet a god would blame someone never exposed to his religion for lack of belief .
