Notes on Some of the Different Types of Adhesives

Caulking compounds
-used to fill joints and cracks in surfaces such as around a door and window openings
-have good adhesion and remains flexible over a wide range of temperatures
-Dry on the exterior to form a tough, elastic surface while remaining tacky on the inside
Glazing compounds
-similar to caulking compounds except that they are used to seal glass in sash or window openings
Joint Sealants
-used to provide weatherproof joints where movement might occur
-have greater elasticity than caulking compounds
