On "America" by Allen Ginsburg

<Tab/>This poem shows Ginsberg's disappointment and worries about the U.S. in the 1950's in a very passionate manner. But I don't think this poem consists entirely of hatred. Inside the hatred, I see hopes for the future, and the expectations he has for the future America.
<Tab/>In this poem, he repeats the line "When will you…?" many, many times. But he does not ask America "Why won't you?" or "Will you?". He asks "When will you?", showing that he knows eventually America will do what he thinks is right. He is just unhappy that it hasn't happened yet.…
