I think we all can draw our own conclusions from that pandemic, I would personally say that half of Britain was wiped out, people who were religious prayed hard and long for the plague to miss them, yet there were some people, like Nostradamus or Charles de Lorme, who acted and tried to apply the medicines that were known at the time. The effects of the Black Death can were immense, first, the economy had to be built up again, peasants were not enough for work that needed to be done after the Pestilence took place, since it took majority of them with itself. The catholic religion also lost some of its flock, since they promised that they will wait for God to take this plague away, a lot of people turned to mysticism. Racism also started to arise in these times, since Jews were blamed for the spread of the disease [Britannica, Black Death]
So the plague set a lot of things into motion, but it also provided a spiritual awakening and people started to appreciate the peace that they had once it was over.
