The Sunni Muslims make the special accent to following of Suna (the actions and sayings of the Prophet), to faithfulness of traditions, to participation of the community in the choice of their head - caliph.
One of the main features of belonging to Sunni Muslims are: reckoning the truthfulness of the six major codes of hadises (created by Buhari, Muslim, at-Timisi, Abu Daud, an-Nasai and Ibn-Madji) (Hodgson, Marshall G.S., 114) ; belonging to one of the four Sunni mashabs (Malicit, Shafiit, Hanafit and Hanbalit); reckoning the legality of government of four first (righteous) caliphs - Abu Becra, Omar, Osman and Ali (Shiites acknowledge only Ali) (Hodgson, Marshall G.S., 114)
Nowadays the religious and historical Sunni Muslims and Shiites conflicts are nutrient medium to intercommunal conflicts in the countries where Sunni Muslims and Shiites live together, that are provoked by fanatic elements of any side.
