Reactions to the Holocaust

Many people think that after the Holocaust it is impossible to keep faith. I disagree with that statement for many reasons. Since there are still Jews on Earth who have suffered the brunt of the Holocaust, experienced the concentration camps and the physical and emotional torture of the whole Second World War, I think that as long as there are people that believe in God, then it is impossible not to keep faith, after what he had put them through. Although not an official Commandment, judging God was hardly ever done by Jews in those days and not much has changed. After some events, people do question whether God has been temporarily out of action, or whether he even is there at all. For example regarding September 11th, where over three thousand people died, when no explanation had been found apart from Al-Qaeda, many people questioned God's existence. One of the main factors to the Holocaust would have been God's gift to human beings; free will. Hitler and his associates would have been exposed to high ranking Jews denying them places in education and society, blocking them from the career ladder. This may have lead the Nazis to choose a life where their sole intentions would be to get revenge on the Jews, not just the one or two individuals that denied them their opportunities, but the Jews as a whole.…
